A tragic single-vehicle accident claimed the life of a Bedford teenager early Sunday morning, leaving the close-knit community in mourning. The crash occurred around 12:30 a.m. on Back River Road, just south of the intersection with County Road, directly in front of the Peter Woodbury School.
According to authorities, the vehicle, which was traveling southbound, veered off the right side of the roadway for reasons still under investigation. It struck a utility pole and continued into the school’s parking lot, rolling over in the process. The sole occupant and driver of the vehicle, later identified as 17-year-old Lauren Souza, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
Emergency responders from the Bedford Police and Fire Departments arrived promptly, but despite their efforts, Lauren succumbed to the injuries she sustained in the crash.
