Lincoln Police have identified the man who tragically lost his life in a fatal car accident on Friday morning in north Lincoln.
Authorities say that 63-year-old William Deckard was killed in the collision, which occurred at around 5:30 a.m. near the intersection of 56th Street and Fletcher Avenue. The crash report reveals that Deckard, who was driving a Nissan Xterra, was traveling southbound on North 56th Street when he attempted to turn left onto Fletcher Avenue. During the turn, his vehicle was struck by a northbound Chevy Tahoe, resulting in a violent crash.
Responding officers confirmed that Deckard succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The impact of the crash left him trapped in the vehicle, and despite the best efforts of emergency responders, he was pronounced dead on site.
The driver of the Chevy Tahoe, a 24-year-old man, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was immediately transported to the hospital for treatment. The young driver was said to be in stable condition, and his injuries were not considered serious.
At this time, Lincoln Police have stated that no citations were issued in connection with the crash, though the investigation remains ongoing. Authorities have not indicated any immediate signs of foul play or impairment.
