At least two people were killed and three others injured in a serious crash that closed a west suburban intersection Friday afternoon, according to authorities.
The incident occurred at the intersection of 47th Street and Willow Springs Road, located on the border of La Grange and Western Springs, around 1:50 p.m. Chopper 7 reported from the scene at about 4:20 p.m.
La Grange police said seven vehicles were involved in the collision, two of which sustained severe damage. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office later confirmed that two people, a 51-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman, died as a result of the crash. The man has been identified as Brett Lane, while the woman’s identity has not yet been released.
Three other individuals were injured, but their ages, genders, and identities have not been immediately disclosed. The cause of the crash remains unclear, and further details have not been made available.
The La Grange Police Department is continuing its investigation into the incident.
