At least two people were killed and three others injured in a serious crash that shut down a west suburban intersection on Friday afternoon, authorities said.
The collision took place at the intersection of 47th Street and Willow Springs Road, on the border of La Grange and Western Springs, around 1:50 p.m. Chopper 7 was on the scene at about 4:20 p.m.
La Grange police confirmed that seven vehicles were involved in the crash, with two of them suffering significant damage. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office later confirmed that two individuals, a 51-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman, died from their injuries. The man has been identified as Brett Lane, while the identity of the woman has not yet been released.
Three other individuals were injured, but authorities have not yet disclosed their ages, genders, or identities. The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and additional details have not been released.
The La Grange Police Department is continuing to look into the incident.
