Concord-Carlisle High School is offering grief counseling after a tragic car crash on Monday, April 21, which killed three students from the school. A fourth student is in critical condition.
The crash happened in Florida, and 18-year-olds Jimmy McIntosh and Hannah Wasserman died at the scene. A third student, Maisey O’Donnell, later passed away from her injuries.
Superintendent Laurie Hunter said, “Their loss will be deeply felt by our school community, as well as by many families in Carlisle and Concord.”
O’Donnell was an organ donor, and her family hopes this will help bring some meaning to the tragedy.
Crash Details: SUV Hits Tractor-Trailer
The Florida Highway Patrol reported the crash happened around 9:28 p.m. on Highway 98 in Inlet Beach, Walton County. The students were in an SUV when it collided with a tractor-trailer that was making a U-turn. McIntosh, the driver, and Wasserman, the front-seat passenger, died at the scene. Two other students were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
Co-Principal Katie Stahl identified the fourth student involved as Lauren Costa, who remains in critical condition.
Grief Counseling and Support
In a message to parents and staff, Hunter asked students not to organize events in honor of the students without first speaking with their families.
Grief counseling will be available at the high school on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to noon and again on Monday when students return from spring break.
The school community is coming together to support the families and friends affected by this heartbreaking event.
